Your Road to Wellness: Nina Lowman

Wellness is not a one-size-fits-all kind of thing. We all approach it differently. And I think we can benefit from hearing one another’s stories and strategies.

The “Your Road to Wellness” feature highlights people from all walks of life and their thoughts on wellness. (Would you like to be featured or know of someone who would be a good fit? Let me know!) This week, let’s catch up with Nina Lowman, founder of CBD wellness brand by the name of Indica Dreams.

Q: Who is your wellness inspiration?

My mother! I watched her battle breast cancer, come back from it, and change her entire approach to life by developing a wellness routine that worked for her. It not only inspired me to start Indica Dreams, but her will and determination to be healthy inspires me on a daily basis.

Q: What is one piece of advice you’d give your younger self about wellness?

Be kind with yourself, be gentle, be patient, and be flexible. Wellness is a journey, and it will change and grow. And you change and grow as a person.

Q: What do you typically do for exercise?

I am self-admittedly addicted to spin and pilates. I attend spin at CycleBar Winter Park and pilates at Club Pilates Sodo.

Q: What do you consider your greatest wellness indulgence and why?

Definitely a spa day! I absolutely love being pampered, and getting a mani/pedi, facial, massage, and/or body wrap. I also enjoy a session in an infrared sauna. These experiences always leave me feeling refreshed, relaxed, and recharged.

Q: What is your greatest self-care/wellness challenge, and how do you deal with it?

Setting aside time for myself to do all those wonderful things I mentioned above — and not feel guilty — can be difficult sometimes. As an entrepreneur, there are always 100 hundred things that need to be done or delegated at any given time, and I struggle with shutting it all down and taking time for myself. It's especially hard to take a step back because I absolutely love what I do. I do my best to be gentle with myself by remembering it's OK to close the laptop sometimes and take a walk. And if I forget, my mother or best friend is always right there to remind me.

Q: What resource (e.g., website, blog, book, etc.) do you look to for wellness/self-care and why?

I especially love the app Insight Timer for meditation. Its abundance of mediation styles and instructors is astounding, not to mention the fact that I can access it all at the touch of a button from my phone at any time. It's safe to say I consider it a healthy addiction!

Q: Which do you prefer to drink — green juice or bubbly? Why?

Easy — bubbly!  Don't get me wrong I enjoy green juice, but I love bubbly, because it's yummy and it reminds me of celebrations.

Q: If you received $1 million to use for your wellness/self-care, how would you spend it?

I'd take a trip around the globe with close family and friends, so we could experience all things wellness. It would be pretty amazing to try a different wellness experience unique to each country.

Whether you’re looking for a morning filled with fitness; healthy food; and an IV therapy, or an indulgent afternoon that includes a massage; pedicure; and glass of bubbly, I’m here to make your personalized wellness dream a reality.
