Wellness is not a one-size-fits-all kind of thing. We all approach it differently. And I think we can all benefit from hearing one another’s stories and strategies.

The “Your Road to Wellness” feature highlights people from all walks of life and their thoughts on wellness. (Would you like to be featured or know of someone who would be a good fit? Let me know!)

This week, let’s catch up with Catherine Clifton, director of Championships for the PGA of America. (More specifically, Catherine is responsible for the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship set to be played June 22-27 at Atlanta Athletic Club.)

Q: Who is your wellness inspiration?

After the challenges of 2020, I focus heavily on mental wellness. For example, I often turn to the 10% Happier app. The guided meditations and practical teachings have transformed my view on stress, happiness, anger, and sadness.

Q: What is one piece of advice you’d give your younger self about wellness?

Getting it right the first time or the 100th time doesn’t matter. It’s the willingness to keep trying.

Q: What do you typically do for exercise?

I grew up playing multiple sports so I like to change it up every six months. I was doing personal training with Ray Grayson, @MrShutUpandTrain, and now I go to F45 Training. I love to push my body to do things and feel strong.

Q: What do you consider your greatest wellness indulgence and why?

Hands down, it’s taking care of my skin. I love getting a facial from NancyRx and massages at Natural Body Spa.

Q: What is your greatest self-care/wellness challenge, and how do you deal with it?

My greatest challenge is going to the grocery store! I love cooking healthy foods for my boyfriend and me but despise the process of grocery shopping. Like many since the start of the pandemic, I’ve become a huge fan of Kroger Pickup!

Q: What resource (e.g., website, blog, book, etc.) do you look to for wellness/self-care and why?

Again, I spend a lot of time on the 10% Happier app.

Q: Which do you prefer to drink — green juice or bubbly? Why?

Bubbly for sure. I know everyone loves green juice, but I can’t seem to get into that trend.

Q: If you received $1 million to use for your wellness/self-care, how would you spend it?

I would have a decked-out gym, trainer, and personal chef. That way, I could focus all of my energy on my career and know that I am still achieving my wellness goals.
